https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=427102 Summary: OpenOffice.org split Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Release Notes AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: pmladek@novell.com QAContact: coolo@novell.com Found By: --- Hi Karl, you might want to include some of the following information in the beta1 release notes. I am sorry if it is too late. I have sent it to Zonker as well. We did a huge build split of OpenOffice.org for openSUSE-11.1-beta1. For the end users, it brings few new packages and many bugs, see below for more details. The main motivation for the build split was to make the developing easier and the maintenance updates smaller. Known bugs: + the application starts and seems to be usable + though, there are still many known problems: + the optional packages are not really optional because the registry files are not correctly spread over the subpackages + java and python components are not registered, so for example wizards do not work + the dialog to change macro security level is empty (more dialogs might be affected) + macro editor does not highlight the lines with breakpoints + macro editor does not mark the line where the code is stopped (arrow) + "Help" and "From Template" dialogs do not have icons + the initial wizard (to select document type) is not showed + ... + we hope to fix the most annoying problems before beta2/beta3 New core packages (are required by the main package OpenOffice_org): + OpenOffice_org-components + OpenOffice_org-filters + OpenOffice_org-l10n-extras + OpenOffice_org-libs-core + OpenOffice_org-libs-extern + OpenOffice_org-libs-gui + OpenOffice_org-ure + OpenOffice_org-icon-themes New optional packages: + OpenOffice_org-filters-optional (OpenOffice_org-filters includes basic filters now) + OpenOffice_org-help-<lang> (split from the localized subpackages, were already on last 11.1-alphas) Renamed packages + OpenOffice_org-l10n-<lang> (renamed from OpenOffice_org-<lang>, so that they can be searched more easily; were available on last 11.1-alphas(*) (*): We have removed OpenOffice_org-l10n-en-US again. It was available on the last openSUSE-11.1-alphas. The problem is that the packages, e.g. OpenOffice_org-calc, must be buildable and usable separately. They must include at least the default localization. It would be a nightmare for developers otherwise. The huge helpcontent is still separated in OpenOffice_org-help-en-US. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
