https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=699914 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=699914#c0 Summary: [gnome3]winbind + gdm fails with first login after boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: philip.raets@telenet.be QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Blocker: Yes I have a openSUSE 11.4 with Gnome 3.0 installed in a windows 2003 domain with winbind. If I start it up, the account doesn't show in the user list, I choose other, enter my domain username, I can enter my password and then gdm hangs. If I first log in on another tty-console with my domain account, then I can log in into gnome through gdm (it's asking to unlock the session). Afterwards it works fine, I can log out and log back in. It seems this is the same bug as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=690873 Local users don't have this problem. If you first login with a local user and then logout doesn't matter. The problem stays in effect. Also very strange, if I kill gdm in another console, it doesn't come back at tty7 but at tty8, and then gnome always falls back in fallback modus. This is very annoying. A user shouldn't have to do this the first time he/she wants to login. Now they have to login twice, first through a console and then through gdm. I've experienced this on 2 different win2k3 domains (both in virtualbox) I don't have this problem at home with openLdap accounts.
