http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506900 Summary: Add script for Soft-RAID Data Scrubbing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rsantos@ruisantos.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hi, As you should know, data on software raids can need to be carefully maintained in order to prevent data loss. One of the methods used is the 'Data Scrubbing', that searches the entire Software Raid on a regular bases for Physical HD block assignments. I've been using a script for some time know, with great success. I provide the script here, with the hope you include it on a future openSUSE release, possibly on the cron.weekly ( my usual ) area or cron.monthly. This helped me in maintaining a lot of Soft-RAID devices healthy. I believe it is a nice asset to other users as well. Regards.
