Maybe, but shouldnt crash the kernel right ? not from userspace at least ;)
The thing is that some kernel code overwrites kernel's and CPU's data. Then when some arbitrary process tries to read the data, it finds only mess there. You have no possibilty to workaround or check it.
Could you install kernel-debug and pass slub_debug on command-line?
If I see it again, I will, it is random, the first time it panic'ed the whole system the next (second) time is what I posted here, but happends according to the phase of moon :|
You might catalyze it by a program at: http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/4/24/439 which I used to catch an "overwriter" in the past. Just tune 1000000000 to be ~ your free ram. (In reply to comment #5)
