https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468303 Summary: kernel update puts wrong boot partition into grub menu.lst Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vankan@kabelfoon.nl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; nl; rv:1.8.1.17) Gecko/20080921 SUSE/2.0.0.17-0.1 Firefox/2.0.0.17 Mnenhy/0.7.5.666 Since I installed 11.0 kernel updates always put root hd(0,0) into the appropriate item(s) in grub's menu.lst, despite the fact, that (hd1,0) contains the root file system and the kernel is correctly placed there. Old items are left undisturbed, but all new items are wrong. It is only a minor nuisance if you know what's happening, but to a newbie it could well be a show stopper, because the machine hangs with the message that the disk is unreadable.
