I am running 11.3 (Latest factory build) with KDE4:Unstable (4.5 trunk). I have noticed that quite some stability can be gained by switching off some of the desktop effects, however sometimes I have the same effect when playing a full-screen video. I have a Thinkpad T61 with an Intel GM965 graphics chip.
