Well, suspend2disk is shaky(?). I had to apply a lot of patches (actual intel-video-driver http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2011Q1.html with all patches and versions of related software as described at intellinuxgraphics (would be nice, if all these patches would go to the distribution :-))). After s2disk without all these patches and new versions, I had tons of hard crashes, broken usb (not only after s2disk). Since I switched to kernel 2.6.38 (it was needed anyway, because 2.6.37 doesn't detect the synaptics device reliably) and applied all the mentioned patches, it _seems_ to be fine now (as expected :-)). OpenSuSE 11.4 (or older versions) on this machine is a pain (sorry for saying this - but it's really true :-() Would be nice, if you could fix this problem!
