I distrust trackerless torrents for the same reason. The primary need for DHT is not to run trackerless torrents but instead to be able to peer exchange between multi-tracker torrents, and keep torrents up when the tracker is down or overloaded. Is there a possible way to turn on DHT only for a secondary peer source, and disallow tracker-less torrents that utilize DHT for distribution? This way you could utilize DHT to interact with hosts using other trackers for the same torrent, but not be able to start or create a torrent that has no tracker. You could also "cripple" the DHT into not functioning on it's own by turning off DHT host-list caching, and only finding DHT hosts through probes of other members of the torrents you are using at the time. Another function to disable is the use of encryption on DHT-connected hosts, and forcing the DHT hosts to be reported to trackers as "unlisted hosts." If such a "crippled" version of DHT could be made, could a modified clone of this bug be opened under the new goal to create a patch for crippled DHT instead of removed? Could someone at Novel run this by the lawyers? Thanks ahead of time. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
