http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=583493 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=583493#c0 Summary: Random screensaver setting crashes computer Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: reg@capiogroup.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091222 SUSE/3.5.7-1.1 Firefox/3.5.7 I've experienced this first in openSUSE 11.0 but because I new to Linux never got around to reporting it. Now that I have installed a new 11.2 openSUSE I see the same behavior. I did extensive testing to see if it was a particular screensaver and found after much testing that it was not. It is instead something to do with one screensaver after another being run which eventually causes some screensaver to crash - which one seems to be arbitrary. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set your system to random screensaver. 2. Let it run overnight 3. It should be crashed in the morning within 1 - 2 days. 4. Although I have had it always crash I have noticed varying times dependent on power saving settings and display off settings so you can vary these a little to reproduce if you are not having any luck. Actual Results: It will eventually lock up the computer and require you to reboot. Expected Results: Not crashed, just kept on showing screen savers. In my setup, I have NVIDIA drivers setup to with two displays connected via a dual display card, an 8600. I suspect that this is not relevant but thought that I would mention it just in case. The computer is an ASUS 64bit with 8GB RAM and a 3ware 8 port RAID card. Again, this should not be relevant but thought I would mention it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
