http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1078548 Bug ID: 1078548 Summary: Upgrade to Leap 15.0 - screen display freezes part way through Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: nwr10cst-oslnx@yahoo.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Build Identifier: This was intended as a test for upgrading Leap 42.3 to 15.0 Beta. I had 42.3 in a virtual machine under KVM. I cloned that VM, then upgraded. Part way through the upgrade, the screen display stopped updating. However, I could see that disk activity was continuing, so I allowed it to continue. After a while the screen went blank, and I could see that it was rebooting. The install had actually worked correctly, but the screen display had not. I'll note that the 42.3 system included KDE, Gnome and XFCE desktops. It probably would have worked correctly with only one desktop (and thus less to upgrade). I had previously done an upgrade from Leap 15.0 Build84.1 to Build 109.3, and that worked (but only Gnome desktop was installed on that system). I also previously tried upgrading 42.3 to an earlier build of 15.0 (I think it was build79.1. And I had the same failure that I am reporting here (but I did not report at that time). I will attach a screenshot taken about 1 minute before the reboot. I will also attach Yast logs. I'm not sure how serious this is, since the upgrade did actually complete even though I could not see what was happening.
