https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438567 Summary: GNOME LiveCD Looking for "configuration server" Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 3 Platform: i386 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimomura@pathcom.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer
From the beginning:
I downloaded the i386 GNOME LiveCD Beta 3 ISO and confirmed the md5sum of the file on my HD. I burned a CD-RW using Nero 8 on my Windows box and it verified the disc was a good burn. Installation attempt on Acer Aspire One using Philips DVD USB drive, attempting to create multiboot system using free HD space. When I ran it, I re-verified it using the LiveCD function and it failed. It reported an error at sector 354752. That sounds ok to me since it should be at the end of the image. "md5sum" from the check was "9b8372c9bdc6cb35fa26a0908b3f64". Running the LiveCD session works, with some issues. For example, the "System Monitor" loads too high. Only the bottom of the window is on the screen. Pulling it down stretches the window so that the bottom 2 graphs can be seen, but there is no way to bring the top of the window down, or close it. An attempt to change resolution to 800 x 600 to see if I could fix the above problem resulted in a crash. Installation Not Working: I rebooted again and tried to install the system. On my first attempt I did not have my Internet wired up. It failed with: "An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for GNOME SuperUser. Some of your settings may not work properly" "Failed to contact configuration server . . . " I rebooted again with a wired network connection. The same thing happened. "Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply . . " I checked the connection using FireFox and it was fine. NOTE: I would prefer to not have to have the Internet connected at all during installations. This how I have usually done installations in the past -- I install and then upgrade later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
