https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844683 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844683#c0 Summary: Long delay in getting global IPv6 address after starting openSUSE 13.1 B1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Beta 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f.de.kruijf@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 I generated a standard network configuration on an Ethernet only system. This resulted in a IPv6 enabled network with traditional ifup. The network supports native IPv6. When booting the system it takes about 5 minutes before the system gets it 2 global IPv6 addresses. After ifdown and ifup of the Ethernet interface, it takes less than a minute to get the global IPv6 addresses. I have the following Custom Rules in the Firewall configuration in YaST for the Ethernet interface: <prefix_from_provider>:1::/48 UDP mdns(5353) fe80::/64 UDP mdns(5353) fe80::/64 UDP dhcp6-client(546) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.reboot the system 2.after about 5 minutes command "ip a" shows the global addresses (also messages from avahi in /var/log/messages) 3.enter the command "ifdown enp1s0" followed by "ifup enp1s0". 4.the last command takes about 25 seconds, after which "ip a" shows the global IPv6 addresses. Expected Results: Immediately after finishing the boot process the global IPv6 addresses should be available. The command "ps aux | grep dhclient6" shows a command line: /sbin/dhclient6 -6 -cf /var/lib/dhcp6/dhclient6.enp1s0.conf -lf /var/lib/dhcp6/dhclient6.enp1s0.lease -pf /var/run/dhclient6.enp1s0.pid -q enp1s0 However the file /var/run/dhclient6.enp1s0.pid does not exist. This does not depend on when the interface has been started. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
