Hi,
This package is going to be removed in 1.6 and will be replaced with
GObject-instropection. To tell the truth, that repository (MATE 1.4) is more of
a proof of concept than a real release.
I'm currently working on MATE 1.6 in X11:MATE:Factory which introduces a lot of
changes (which also have impact on that module). Some of the changes are:
* Replace ORBit/bonobo (CORBA) and mateconf-2.0 with glib-2.0 gsettings and
DBus;
* Implement support for systemd-login (mate-screensaver is already done in
this field);
* Around 15 packages are dropped (CORBA/mateconf-2.0, gedit fork and a few
other things).
I have disabled the builds there (X11:MATE), if I re-enable them, hell will
break loose, and I don't have yet the Obsolete/Provides pairs implemented on
1.5 to make a good transiction form 1.4 to 1.5 for users.
Would it be much of a pain to wait for the transiction? I mean there's no point
in fixing that when in the next two weeks we'll have a transiction to 1.5.
We're entering feature freeze soon to prepare the 1.6 release (upstream). When
the feature freeze happens, I'll move the 1.5 from X11:MATE:Factory to
X11:MATE.
Would it be ok if we skip this now and wait a bit more till 1.5/1.6? Then we'll
have GOject-instrospection :)
NM
