To which version are you referring, then? At least I would expect that Novell is fixing aliasing entries in the corresponding files as I guess this is something that definitively should not happen :-). I do not think one can blame the kernel developers for this. Maybe there are multiple modules for the same device, but the distributor is in charge of avoiding things like this in his distribution (IMHO).
