Just a further note that it IS possible to get special desktop effects working
on this radeon [9200pro] hardware with Linux with the radeon driver, .... in
addition to this working on the recent Fedora-13 (see above posts), I also
tested it on a recent Linux Mint 9 KDE live DVD (not CD) and I noted special
desktop effects were both enabled and worked with the radeon graphic driver
(v.6.13.0 as confirmed by an evaluation of the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file) ...
with functioning wobbly windows, the cube rotations, transparency ... etc ....
I am not familiar with .deb distributions so I do not know enough to get the
same level of information as to what they (LinuxMint 9 KDE) are doing, like I
was able to do with Fedora (an rpm based distro - see above). I do note
LinuxMint9 has the 2.6.32-21 kernel, with xorg-1.7.6 and mesa-7.7.1. I note
they have a special libdrm-radeon1 package which is noted to be a radeon
special package for kernel DRM-services - runtime. libdrm version is 2.4.18.
Is there any thing else I can do (given I am not a packager nor programmer) to
help move this forward? [I will attach the Linux Mint /var/log/Xorg.0.log
file in a following post]
