http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1204277 Bug ID: 1204277 Summary: IPMI of power8 machine (type 8247-22L) is not accessible after firmware upgrade Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: LittleEndian OS: All Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: nsinger@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202275 we got asked to update "the firmware" of the only power8 testing machine we have available for openqa.opensuse.org (o3). You can see from which version we came from and to which version we updated here: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202275#c20 Apparently this update worked fine, except that we cannot access the system via ipmitool any longer: ipmitool -I lanplus -C 3 -H openqaworker-power8-ipmi.suse.de -U ADMIN -P <redacted> chassis power status Error in open session response message : insufficient resources for session Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session We already tried several things including: * changing passwords for the ipmi user * switching from OPAL to PowerVM (some article in the wild internet suggested IPMI would not work in OPAL) and back * making sure IPMI access is enabled in the ASM * full reset of the ASM back to factory settings The machine is of the type 8247-22L. Is there anything we're overlooking? As reference: our team communication around this topic mainly happens in https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/116078 Sorry if this is in the completely wrong project but I couldn't find anything fitting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
