http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208438 Bug ID: 1208438 Summary: On some i7-8650U Dell Laptops get kernel panic when gui is running. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.4 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Leap 15.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: llrainey15@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have several Dell Latitude 7490 i7-8650U FHD laptops. When I install the latest 15.4 DVD - everything works until I do the updates, when I reboot, the GUO comes up for about 45 seconds and the caps lock flashes and the laptop is dead. I have got it working by adding i915.modeset=0 to the startup. On some laptops this is not needed - they are all different build dates but have the same display and nvme installed (NVME is WD Black 500GB). Installed via generic desktop and selecting MATE desktop at the Software part of the install - all are ext4 partitions. 256MB for /boot/efi 32gb for swap 464GB for / I suspect a bug in the i915 code. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
