First, let me reply to the concern over the introduction of these changes at the end of the 11.2 development cycle. I think this is why many folks have gravitated to this report (putting to shame prior calls for help on opensuse-gnome). Part of the blame goes to Novell staff since I've been trying to get someone to package yast2-gtk to Factory for a couple of months; part to my idiocy for the lapse of a couple of releases from incorrect commits after I was allowed and told to use Build Service myself. Many people however were alerted of the incoming changes, including the reporter of this bug. Now I don't have any muscle over opensuse, but I am not very inclined to spend further time reverting every portions of code having to do with the package manager UI however, and shipping the 11.1 version seems unworth the bug costs. I also wish some of you were more polite on your criticisms of my volunteer work. "GTK package manager == bad" is no way to open a civil bug report. Summary: 1. revert action-oriented labels (e.g. "Install" -> "Available") 2. revert Apply button behavior (done) 3. repositories view ought not to disable remove tab (fixed) 4. get rid of the uncouple button (done) 5. revert undo tab to the sidebar 6. disable version action button when applied (done) Interestingly the idea of 4 was to serve as a cushion for those who wanted 5. I guess the implementation failed to deliver the goods however. Let's keep the yast2-qt behavior for the moment and brainstorm about a redesign over email. I will let Christian Jaeger have a say on number 1, since he was the main person who pushed for it.
