Thanks.
I got doubts that your configuration files (PPD files) from LinuxPrinting.org
can work with our distribution. Reason is that they require a special patched
version of ghostscript with a additional functionality, which we provide in a
separate package (standalone from ghostscript): hpijs.
It seems that this PPD file requires the latest version of printing packages,
whereas the packages in your 10.3 distribution are around 1 year old, and don't
have new options and additional functionalities.
This is something which cannot work. I pointed this out in comment #1. :-(
Your logfile lacks of start of process with pid 11858. :-( This is even more
astonishing, as the logfiles contain log information of several days...
The logfiles are worthless. :-(
A short description how you can setup a pure SUSE configuration:
- stop cups
- remove all the unnecessary 3rd party files and (more important) your broken
config files:
* remove all the printing packages: "cups-libs", "cups", "cups-client",
"foomatic-filters", "gutenprint", "cups-drivers", "hplip", "hplip-hpijs"
<<and those I missed>>
* remove all the broken config files in /etc/cups /usr/lib64/cups/
/usr/share/cups
* and remove old logfiles: /var/log/cups/*
* remove store printjobs and wipe out: /var/spool/cups
- install printing packages (names see before) from scratch
- start printing system cups
- configure your printer with YaST
If this is still not working, please attache again: config files and logfiles
(as .tar.gz files) of new setup print system --> still NEEDINFO
If it is working, report this back too --> NEEDINFO
It seems that this is getting less a bug, and more and more a configuration
issue. This is bugzilla!
Please consider buying Novells/SuSEs professional support, which can help you
setting up a good printer configuration. Thanks for understanding.
