Anyway, I do not think it is a good idea to have different package layouts in different languages,
Yes, but sometimes in the end that's less confusing to the "foreign" user.
or to obsolete a documentation package that has been installed by default when installing another documentation package.
Sure, I'll avoid this. This would be a bug and nothing else.
3 possible solution I can think of (for all languages):
* Make each book a separate package and let the user decide which ones to install. If wanted we could create a pop-up when selecting the package saying that inter-book links will only work when all books are installed. We should also have a pattern with all manuals for each language * Make each book a separate package and RPM-require all other books in the selected language. Translated doc sets will have to require the English versions of books not translated. * Make one big package containing all books for each language. Translated doc packages will have to include the English versions of books not translated.
The problem with the last option for partially translated books is that some bits are coming from the _localized_ style-sheets. Thus while the text is English framework stuff ("see Kapitel 42 'Printing'", or "Inhaltsverzeichnis"). That especially bad, if we'd produced untranslated PDFs with the localized style-sheets. References from stand-alone HTML books are not "hot". Thus the user will never see 404. Option two is complicate. I'd just install the English set _always_--it is our reference documentation. Someone who has the power is encouraged to take a decision. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
