It seems giving noapic (not acpi it's apic) should have remedied your problem. AFAIK, windows doesn't use apic on up machine. Not sure about fedora but if fedora is using UP kernel during and after installation, there's a good chance it doesn't use apic on UP setup. Opensuse now always uses SMP kernel and that's probably why the BIOS bug hits only opensuse. Anyways, I'm resolving this bug as invalid.
