Ok.
Theoretically it's a SUSE specific patch in 12.1. It could be verified by
trying the 12.1 -vanilla kernel flavor.
But I doubt it and it's not worth the extra effort.
Finding this could get tricky. It could be:
- a slightly other HW usage (ASPM default on/off switched or similar)
- a quirk for this machine fixing things in newer kernels
- ...
If you could provide dmesg output of a working and a broken kernel, with some
luck we see the relevant difference in the logs.
It could still get (reverse-) bisected, but as said this will be a hard and
time consuming task.
As this is a HW/machine specific defect (and even fixed in mainline already), I
would suggest to use this kernel repository:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/openSUSE-12.2/standard/x86...
for this specific machine. Hopefully no external KMPs (Kernel Module Packages)
are needed?
Feel free to attach dmesg output or close won't fix if using a newer kernel is
a suitable workaround for you and you do not want to put more time looking into
this.
