https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731067 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731067#c0 Summary: kdm starts very late - missing earlyxdm init script Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Manfred.Tremmel@iiv.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.34 (KHTML, like Gecko) konqueror/4.7.2 Safari/534.34 With openSUSE 11.4 kdm needed between 4 and 5 seconds to start and enable to type in my password, after Kernel has been loaded on my Dell Latitude D620 with Intel SSD. In openSUSE 12.1 it takes three times as long, independend of using systemd or old init system. The reason seems to be kdm is started much later in boot process, I'm missing the old earlyxdm init script which started kdm very early. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot 2. look at the time between kernel is loaded and kdm is on the screen 3. compare time with 11.4 Actual Results: see details Expected Results: kdm should start earlier in boot process, readd early xdm init script -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
