I apologize for not making it clear that the help to which I was referring was in YaST2, but you seem to have realized that. My point was that it refers to something that isn't there. In case you mean that my [Esc] key could reveal "Set as Default", I've tried that, but it doesn't work. I had to edit /etc/default/grub instead. If you mean that my [Esc] key could reveal the menu of operating systems, that would be the opposite of what I wanted, which was to be able to choose the system without seeing the menu. I didn't manage to do that, and found that setting Timeout in Seconds to 1 didn't hide the menu but did make it impossible to select one of the options. If I'd changed the default I'd therefore have seen the menu but been unable to start openSUSE and had to reinstall the whole system. In 3 I tried to explain what I was aiming to achieve. When I had to reinstall 12.1, I reported bug 656168. Although I've never found what was done to resolve the issue, Karl Eichwalder and Frank Sundermeyer did seem to understand the problem, so I may have explained it better there, and you might find it helps you follow my meaning.
