If I click on the select box widget the first time, the drop-down list vanishes as soon as I release the left mouse button. But clicking on it a 2nd time, 3rd time, 4th time... or sometimes just after the 20th time, at some point the drop down list stays there when I release the mouse button. But as far as I can tell, this is not deterministic. I tried this several times now. Again, it's not all select boxes I experience this strange behavior with.
