Dr. Werner Fink
As reported in rhbz#1786054 and upstream: https://github.com/googlefonts/Inconsolata/issues/42, the default build of emacs on both openSUSE & Fedora currently has trouble using the inconsolata font: - install `google-inconsolata-fonts` (ensure you have at least version 3.000) - launch `emacs -Q` - eval (set-default-font "Inconsolata") - observe completely broken font spacing
This is a bug in Xft, that is unfortunately unlikely to be fixed (as mentioned in the github issue). The issue is however gone when emacs is build with Cairo support. Maybe this is the way forward and should be enabled by default?
Nope, as long as Cairo is experimental and not stable I'll never enable this: ** New configure option --with-cairo. This builds Emacs with Cairo drawing. As a side effect, it provides support for built-in printing, when Emacs was built with GTK+. The Emacs Cairo drawing is experimental and still has some known display problems. We encourage more testing of this build and reporting any problems you find, but it is not recommended for production. or do you have informations that Cairo support is now reliably? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
