https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=485014 User robin.listas@telefonica.net added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=485014#c1 Summary: After February kernel update, s2disk fails to power-off the system. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: robin.listas@telefonica.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.6 After February kernel update, s2disk fails to power-off the system. System proceeds with s2disk as usual, but on the last moment it fails to power off the machine. The error message, hand copied, is: s2disk: saving 89482 image data pages [...] done S| s2disk: Could not enter the hibernation state, calling power_off. Reason: input/ouput error. After this, I have to pull the power. When I power on the machine, it thaws correctly. Notice that I have always got that error message (which is not saved to any log; I have a photo if you want it), but the machine powered off normally before the last update. And it does work in 11.0 minas-morgul:~ # cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.27.19-3.2-debug (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.3.2 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 141291] (SUSE Linux) ) #1 SMP 2009-02-25 15:40:44 +0100 Ask for any log or data you may need. For me, this bug is a blocker, as it impedes my upgrading to 11.1: I routinely hibernate the machine daily, and my UPS setup relies on hibernating the machine.
