https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=490043 Summary: Console tools (smbtree, smbclient) resolve Netbios name → IP in a wrong way Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de ReportedBy: jakub.rusinek@gmail.com QAContact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=282716) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=282716) smb.conf User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; pl-PL; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 I got Samba accidentaly working (hard to discover what to do exactly). Nautilus quickly finds other computers, see their shares and can connect. Plug and play. When it comes to smbclient -L or smbtree, they both resolve his IP as 217.74.65.145. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. [firewall] allow netbios server, samba server and samba client in external zone 2. [firewall] allow broadcast for samba sharing for 192.168.2.0/24 (my IP range) 3. restart winbind, nmb and smb Actual Results: Nautilus sees local Samba (LIVIO-DESKTOP - 192.168.2.100) and remote computer (TORPEDO - 192.168.2.101), sees mine and his shares, can access them. $ smbclient -L TORPEDO timeout connecting to 217.74.65.145:445 [217.74.65.145 is IP of a server which hosts my ISP's http 404 page] Expected Results: Both kind of utilities working well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
