Language/Keyboard English (US) Region USA Changing from default zone of Eastern to Pacific Additional Observations: A) On actual hardware (PXE Install, with network): 1. "Synchronizing with NTP Server" dialog appears briefly and time is set to default zone. 2. Changing time zone does not change time as indicated in original report. 3. "Hardward clock set to UTC" is not checked by default. B) On VirtualBox (ISO Install, no network): 1. "Synchronizing with NTP Server" dialog does not appear 2. Changing time zone changes time as expected. 3. "Hardward clock set to UTC" is checked by default. C) In both cases (no workaround): 1. Setup indicates "NTP is configured" 2. Zone setting is saved with correct setting 3. NTP is set to manual in YaST2 "Clock and Time Zone" module. - When "Synchronize with NTP Server" is selected, no servers are listed in the drop down (which is fine) - Simply clicking "Configure" will yield the following error: "Invalid NTP server hostname" - You have to enter text in the drop down box before the configure button will work (any text will do) - Once you get into the "Advanced "New Synchronization" dialog, you can configure NTP (I didn't try saving at this point, but it looked like it was working) D) Workaround During Setup, if you click the "Change" button after selecting a new time zone, then click "Accept", the time is updated as expected and NTP is configured properly. After setup completes, changing from "Synchronize with NTP Server" to "Manually" in YaST2 "Clock and Time Zone" module is not saved. No error is given, it just reverts the "Manually" setting. For what it's worth, I can recall having problems with this part of the installation since as far back as 10.2 when I moved out of the default zone. I've always done the workaround described above, sometimes also clicking the "Synchronize Now" button during installation. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
