https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441754 Summary: libfprint dependency issues Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: ASSIGNED Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: thoenig@novell.com ReportedBy: thoenig@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: jsuchome@novell.com, lrupp@novell.com, rodrigo@novell.com Found By: --- libfprint dependency issues This affects GNOME installations only. As gnome-screensaver now links against libfprint0 it is being installed on all GNOME installations. This is fine. However: * libfprint recommends pam_fp * pam_fp recommend yast2-fingerprint-reader This means, that every regular GNOME installation will -- regardless whether a fingerprint reader device is present or not -- pull: * libfprint (OK), pam_fp (not OK) and y2-f-r (not OK) Proposal: * gnome-screensaver: no changes * libfprint0: remove recommendation for pam_fp * libfprint0: remove supplementing USB IDs * pam_fp: no changes * y2-f-r: add supplementing USB IDs This would lead to the following: GNOME installation on system without fingerprint reader: * gnome-screensaver and libfprint0 are being installed GNOME installation on system without fingerprint reader: * gnome-screensaver, libfprint0, pam_fp and y2-f-r are being installed Is this correct? Lars, could you please comment on the dependencies? Jiri, could you please comment on the supplements for the USB IDs? Or should we add them to pam_fp? I don't see a pro/con for this decision. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
