https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=292011 Summary: Got to linux login, without having created any accounts Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: flatrivercobol@comcast.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer I've installed openSUSE 10.2 for dual boot with Windows Vista. It boots, which is great. However, at the linux login prompt there is a problem. The intallation procedure did not include any account creation dialogs, and so I have no password. A number of other users have reported similar problems with openSUSE 10.2 in the SUSE Forums, for example at: http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=36744&hl=internet+connection+t... I did not have any success with the suggested workarounds, and do not see the bug reported here. So it looks like this bug report is necessary. I obtained installation CDs 1-3 (x86) from ftp://suse.inode.at/. CD3 failed MD5 verification, so I obtained that from ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/. I accepted the installation defaults. Due to an irrelevant error with, I omitted that from the list of installed packages. I also omitted the internet test at the end of the install procedure. In all other respects, it was a default installation. The initial boot got me to a linux login. However, the installer had not shown me any account creation dialogs, and so I have no password. Other than this, it appears to have been a successful install. Thank you for looking into this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
