Your changes are correct and configuration is valid. I see there only problem with booting of actually installed system ;-) If GRUB successful wrote your original configuration you have to manually add chainloader or configfile boot section to your existing installation on /dev/sdc1 (Desktop -- openSUSE 11.2 - 2.6.31.12-0.1) Boot from "/" partition means write GRUB to "/" partition without any changes of MBR and your PC should still boot your previous OS. (Yes of course take care about disable checkboxes: Write Generic boot code... and Set active flag....) Next I tried to reproduce your problem and I was not successful. It means there is not problem with your changes or broken y2-bootloader. There can be problem in device /dev/sdc4 (y2-storage) or GRUB. I don't know. Torsten feel free to reassign the bug to next person (not to me) maybe you have an idea what can be wrong, maybe device doesn't exist or it is not accessible. It is good to know that device.map includes persistent device names and name for /dev/sdc is "/dev/disk/by-id/ata-Hitachi_HDS721050CLA362_JP1521HN0MUHTA" -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
