https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331279 Summary: Realtek r8169 driver error (link down) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bboeckmann@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=176569) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=176569) lspci output Ethernet connection can not be established with the following network adapter: 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 01) insmod r8169.ko works, and I get the following dword messages: eth0: RTL8168b/8111b at 0xffffc20000648000, 00:1a:4d:4c:e3:3a, IRQ 17 However, binding the adapter to an ip-adress with dhcp fails, and dmesg puts the following onto the screen: r8169: eth0: link down It seams that the driver thinks that the network cable is not attached correctly, but this is not true. The adapter works well under windows with the same physical connection. Unplugging the power-cable from the computer for 30 seconds helps. The first boot after unplugging the power-cable, everything works perfectly. The mainboard type I have is a Gigabyte P35-DS3P with an Intel ICH9R Sthouthbridge. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
