I booted again into the rescue system of os 12.2 final from the DVD using boot option "BrokenModules=pata_pdc2027x" (no further options).
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf did not exist, only 50-blacklist.conf. This file does not contain pata_pdc2027x, see attachment.
rescue system doesn't support BrokenModules.
"modprobe -r pata_pdc2027x" succeeded, but "modprobe pdc202xx_new" did not: a diagnostic message "module pdc202xx_new not found" was issued. "find /lib/modudules -name '*pdc202xx_new*'" did not succeed either.
If necessary, I will test the "libata.dma=0" option later on.
I checked the some old openSUSE version, looks we removed IDE driver from initrd since openSUSE 11.3 (reduce size of initrd?): openSUSE 11.0 pdc202xx_new YES openSUSE 11.2 pdc202xx_new YES (per bug description) openSUSE 11.3 pdc202xx_new NO openSUSE 11.4 pdc202xx_new NO openSUSE 12.2 pdc202xx_new NO That make sense even you used hwprobe=-modules.pata but system still used pata_pdc2027x but not pdc202xx_new. We need find a way to give you a chance for use IDE driver when installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
