Hi, I have the same problem with the black screen. Graphic card Intel 82945G. Monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2343. I tried the intel driver for the graphic card, as well as the vesa driver, also changed the monitor. No big difference. In the beginning I could only boot into runlevel S. After creating a xorg.conf with sax2, things improved a little so that I can now boot into runlevel3. If I start the graphical system however, I now get a rotating white dot in the middle of the black screen. The keyboard doesn't work. But the system is running. I can watch it via the LAN from my laptop. /var/log/messages says: kdm[1274]: X server for display:0 terminated unexpectedly. kdm_greet[25907]: Cannot read from core kdm: 0[261671]: Abnormal termination of greeter for display: 0, code 1, signal 0 Sorry if I messup the bugreport, please tell me where to put this instead.
