Daniel Schmidt <jdsn@novell.com> 2008-04-25 06:21:06 MST --- After long discussions with documentation and a lot of research we face the following situation: "Mio." is a correct abbreviation in English in business context. In scientific context "m", "M" and "MM" are used. "Mil." is not an option but "mill." is. Both are quite uncommon and inexact as they also relate to "mill" which is thousand. As "m" also refers to meter and "MM" is quite common in financial context the remaining options are: "Mio." and "M". For now I will switch to "M" but will leave the "Mio." string in x11 in case we want to switch back quickly later. Btw.: when writing the complete word "million" you usually refer to living beings :) The two strings from registration do not appear in openSUSE. They are used for SLES and went into the code with a merge of branches. I added the alternatives to the code, but they will most likely not being translated for 11.0 (but they are not visible anyway anywhere).
