Meanwhile I have figured out one reason for this problem!
It depends on the AUTOMATIC LOGIN that can be set for exactly one user. This can be done already during system installation. If done so you will find following in the /etc/sysconfig-Editor (YaST2):
Desktop → Display Manager → DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN: <username>
A login with this username causes the VNC window to crash. If you remove this username in /etc/sysconfig VNC works fine with this user-login!
As a consequence of this removal there is no automatic login and you will be asked to login every time starting a session after boot. The same happens if you add a further user to the system. Then any autologin-user will be removed.
Since there is no autologin for root possible vnc for a root session still works without problems.
Axel, thanks for figuring this out!
So I assume VNC has to disregard any auto-login settings opening a KDE session.
VNC has no knowledge of autologin. This is a feature of the DM. Michal has already asked what DM you are using. You haven't answered this yet, but since you are talking about KDE I assume you are using the KDE one. Please still look at /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and search for A line starting with 'DISPLAYMANAGER='. We need what's after the '=' sign.
KDE problem: For a user you can set an Auto-Login with application „Configure Desktop“:
→ System Administration → Login Screen: Convenience
But this doesn't work because no entry will be created in /etc/sysconfig!
