https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859232 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859232#c0 Summary: gnome crashes at startup Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hiller@mpia.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 In the graphical mode i choose in the login mask gnome as the window manager. After giving my username and password it immediately crashes with "Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occured and the system can't recover. Please log out and try again." I followed the hint i found googl'ing around and replaced in /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome.session the line RequiredComponents=gnome-shell;gnome-settings-daemon; by RequiredComponents=metacity;gnome-settings-daemon;gnome-panel But this did not help. Are there hints what to write into this file under 13.1? Is there any way to debug? Neither in /var/log/messages, nor in ~/.gnome2 ~/.gconf or ~/.gconfd was something written. By the way: kde works, so there must be a special issue with gnome Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. just start gnome 2. 3. Actual Results: gnome does not start -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
