https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=476282 Summary: autossh should be added to the 11.2 release Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Greg.Freemyer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-1.1 Firefox/3.0.5 ssh -R creates reverse tunnels to allow remote ssh connections through firewalls / NAT devices. Unfortunately ssh -R is not very robust and in my tests would not stay up for more than a few hours. Not very acceptable if you want to leave an access path in place for occasional support needs. autossh is a ssh manager that specifically addresses the robustness issue and will kill and recreate the ssh -R tunnel anytime it fails. FYI: It is already in the OBS: http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.1&p=1&q=autoss...
