Please consider the following two options: - Set a password for the postgres user so that you can su to it from a non-root login. Then you'll get the DISPLAY variable and can start pgadmin. - Adjust the configuration of the PostgreSQL server so that you can access it with PgAdmin3 wrunning under your regular account.
