As I detailed above, for all database application installs since at least October 2007 with the release of 10.3, users have to edit and reconfigure both /etc/my.cnf and /usr/sbin/rcmysql. It seems much more reasonable to rebuild the packages with the traditional config than requires tens of thousands of openSuSE users to pull their hair out until they figure out why their mysql apps won't run. I'll give the new build a go and report back.
