https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223669 Summary: Zen-installer has no abort, appears to hang due to poor progress indicator Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bam@NightStorm.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Apparently source refresh is enabled by default in 10.2 RC1. As a result starting install software brings up a Zen-Installer window with a "Getting list" (or words to that effect) and the CPU goes to near 100% with zen-installer for a long period of time. It appears to be hung. This is poor from a human factors standpoint. There should be: - some kind of progress indicator - some way to skip the update (I would not use the word "abort" here as that implies total program abort) so that one can do a quick install of something that is already media-local. FWIW Yast's software manager has the same problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
