https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854024 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854024#c0 Summary: Add a Small Enhancement to Offset a Huge Issue for Live CD Installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: secure@aphofis.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 The configuration of repos at the beginning of the installation needs quantifying. We all dont have a T3 connection out there is mum and pop's place and to do 2 PC's it would ake days If a user has a slowish ADSL net connection the install could take days. Especially as ISP's like to slow the speed down to dial-up once total data limit has been reached by the user. If a user has a download limit then their up for big really big $$$$ of excess if this is their case. We need to hurriedly add the warning at the confirmation of repos before installation something like. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Lice CD Install does not come with warnings and we done all have unlimited data allowance and a T3 connection...you and I are lucky but out there in the burbs, other may not. Expected Results: "Configuring Repos before Installation places a huge demand on your Internet Speed and should not be done if your Internet speed is slow." "Configuring Repos before Installation will download aprox ??45GIG?? of data and should not be done if you have any restriction on your data download throttle or limit" I think we should allocate a priority to this Enhancement. Sure its a small one but the impact on countless users is hugely enormous. Please consider against cost/benefit analysis. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
