https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=299145 Summary: (k)NetworkManager fails to set ESSID Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 1 Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hartmut.meyer@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other I'm trying to connect to an unencrypted network with hidden ESSID. In knetworkmanager I use the option "connect to other wireless network" (like I would do with 10.2). I enter the correct ESSID and monitor the progress with iwconfig on the command line. First it becomes apparent that networkmanager for some reason does not set the ESSID - it just stays blank. In a further attempt I set the ESSID manually before attempting to connect with knetworkmanager: iwconfig eth1 essid johann-eilers-weg_24 knetworkmanager -> connect to other wireless network (specifying the ESSID) after manually setting the ESSID I can see with "iwconfig" that the ESSID is correctly set. After starting to connect with knetworkmanager I see with "iwconfig" that the ESSID is blank again. So apparently networkmanager does change the ESSID, but always to an empty/blank state. Wireless connection to the same network works fine when completely done manually: iwconfig eth1 essid johann-eilers-weg_24 ifup-dhcp eth1 Hardware is an built-in mini-PCI card (orinoco_pci). I will attach hwinfo --wlan /var/log/NetworkManager -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
