https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280386 Summary: YaST2 repair tools not working properly ( DVD as well as system ) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4plus Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: casualprogrammer@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com After updating to 2.6.22-rc2-git7-2-default the boot sequence was broken, message "boot sector not found..." Try to repair with openSuSE 10.3 alpha4 DVD ( Installation / Other / repair ), partitions were found alright, but installation of boot sector failed. "Message device does not exist" Booting to installed system with Installation / Other / boot installed system worked nicely. x-server wouldn't start, but yast2 repair brings up the ncurses dialogue. Same problem as above. Doing grub-install /dev/hda/ seemed to work ( two warnings about NTFS partitions, expressly not critical ) but boot failed as well ( black screen with blinking cursor ) Only rescue was boot DVD Installation / Update / select kernel keep the rest, except for one hickup ( Bug 280385 ). Repair tools need to be fixed, they may not be able to handle the new fangled /dev/disk/by-id addressing of the boot partition ?? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
