https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731539 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731539#c0 Summary: Kernel won't load with ext4 on x86_64 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: admin@different-perspectives.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=463027) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=463027) Log of mknitrd showing failures User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.8 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/17.0.922.0 Safari/535.8 SUSE/17.0.922.0 The base kernel with the openSUSE 11.3 distribution DVD installs and loads fine on ext4. The updated kernels won't load fully although grub is finding and loading the kernel image. mkinitrd complains about ext4 module (amongst others) not found. I added the ext4 and a couple of other dependency modules to the mkinitrd config, with no improvement. This is now a security issue as I can't update the kernel to the latest versions. PC is a Samsung nc110 notebook. Happens on fresh install with ext4 partitions. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OS 11.3 from DVD on x86_64 with /boot & / partitions ext4 2. Upgrade with latest (or any upgraded) kernel 3. Reboot Actual Results: Load fails after grub has loaded kernel. Expected Results: Normal upgrade & boot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
