But if you compare the behaviour when replying to the two messages that I attached (save the files, open them with kmail --view filename, then press R) you will see that it is independent of the content of the line (only single > : | characters, as quoting chars, are special cased for flowing). The reason the structure is broken is because kmail does not have any concept of the semantic structure of your mail, and by default tries to re-flow a paragraph of text when quoting it and adding the quote character requires the lines to split at 80 chars. Since it does not understand that n) forms a structured, ordered list, these get flowed like any other text. This is configurable though.
