http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=537074 Summary: Officially offered ISOs do not boot from USB Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.burmeister@gmx.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-121.1 Firefox/3.5.2 If I download e.g. openSUSE-NET or one of the Live CD images from http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/ and dd them to a usb stick they do not boot. If I however download the opensuse KDE live cd from http://home.kde.org/~binner/kde-four-live/ it does boot after I do the same dd. Since USB sticks are quite popular and it seems possible to have the ISOs boot from CD as well as USB, I'd consider offering ISOs that fail to boot from USB a (usability) bug. Especially since netbooks became quite popular and do not offer a CD/DVD drive.
