https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222143 ------- Comment #5 from mh@novell.com 2006-11-18 07:44 MST ------- Yeah, I know it's in release-notes ;-) I should have said that I don't currently have time to download (and install) the stuff on my systems and therefore was rather looking for a directory where I could download the stuff from directly... I found that directory to be ftp://dist.suse.de/release-notes/10.2 (quoted from memory) in the meantime. Here's my initial thoughts what could/should be added: The ext3 file system is known for its backward compatibility with the ext2 file system; this (amongst others) is one of the reasons why the YaST2 partitioner now defaults to create new file systems using this type. To achieve the maximum possible performance, the feature "dir_index" is activated by default as well. This causes the ext3 file system driver to use hashed b-trees which helps especially speeding up lookups in large directories. If you don't want to use this feature (which is not encouraged), you can disable it in the file system specific details dialog. FWIW, I'm not sure if we have actually implemented the enabling/disabling piece I just documented in the last sentence. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
