I can reproduce all your firefox examples perfectly okay.
$ echo "../lib/firefox/firefox.sh" | xargs dirname
./lib/firefox
My acroread is acroread-9.3-0.1.1.i586 from
S | Name | Type | Version | Arch | Repository
--+----------+------------+-----------+--------+--------------------------------------------
i | acroread | package | 9.3-0.1.1 | i586 | http://d.o.o/update/11.2
v | acroread | package | 9.2-1.1.1 | i586 |
http://d.o.o/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss
| acroread | srcpackage | 9.3-0.1.1 | noarch | http://d.o.o/update/11.2
i | acroread | patch | 1849 | noarch | http://d.o.o/update/11.2
The dirname message comes from this code block:
if [ -z "$mozillaPath" ]; then
MozPath="`gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command 2>/dev/null
| cut -d ' ' -f1 2>/dev/null`"
echo $MozPath
[ -x "${MozPath}" ] || MozPath="`Which "$MozPath"`"
echo $MozPath
mozillaPath="`readlink "$MozPath" | xargs dirname`"
I've inserted two echo commands there. The first prints 'epiphany' the second
prints the empty string.
Note that my system is KDE, I don't have epiphany installed.
$ rpm -qf /usr/bin/gconftool-2
gconf2-2.28.0-1.2.i586
